This is a premium blend of two varieties launched in 1990: Gamaret and Garanoir. They are sibling crosses of Gamay Noir and Reichensteiner, making for an early ripening variety with good resistance to rot. Gamaret lends blends a spicy, peppery and black fruit note, while Garanoir provides structure and soft tannin. Partly matured in large oak Foudres and bottled with low sulphur, expect a mix of blueberry, blackcurrant, blackberry and red cherry on the nose with smoky hues and a touch of nutmeg spice. More of the same appears on the palate, over velvety, crowd-pleasing tannins.
