The lesser known Côte d’Or village of Maranges is the most southerly in the area sitting adjacent to Santenay but produces some delightful and ripe wines, with whites only accounting for around 10% of production. This young, elegant and very approachable example comes from the south facing vineyard of Vignes Blanches in Dezize-les-Maranges and made by dynamic winemaker Franck Lamargue who specialises in some of the less famous appellations of the Côte de Beaune. Classically matured in new and used oak barrels there are aromas of white flowers, lemon, peach and stone fruits leading onto a soft and fresh palate with those oaky, creamy notes coming through balanced by clean acidity. Highly enjoyable and rewarding young Côte de Beaune white.
